Stewart C. "Stew" Burkhammer is currently serving as principal consultant for Burkhammer Consulting Services, specializing in construction safety. Stew is a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and an Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) with more than forty years experience working in the construction industry (Bechtel Group), working with/for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and working with the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).
Stew retired from his position as the Director of the Office of Construction Services for the Directorate of Construction within OSHA/DOL in January of 2008. Prior to being appointed to this position in June of 2002, Stew spent forty years with the Bechtel Group of Companies, retiring in May of 2002, having served as Principal Vice President and Manager of Global Environmental, Safety and Health Services, where he managed a global, multi-cultural ES&H staff of more than 1,000 professionals. He knows the ins and outs of the construction industry and has invaluable OHSA expertise.
Stew provides expert safety consultation and expert witness support to attorneys and their clients, as well as to private and public groups. Stew provides case development guidance and concise, accurate reports to attorneys for both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving Construction Accidents, Personal Injury, Disability, Wrongful Death, and/or OSHA Citations. BCS has also completed Safety Program Reviews and Jobsite Safety Audits and Building Code Reviews.
